The thickness of the fabric has a great influence on the wearing performance of the fabric, such as the fastness, warmth retention, air permeability, wind resistance, stiffness and drape of the fabric, which are largely related to the thickness of the fabric.
3. The experimental instrument and the measurement of the sample fabric thickness were measured by the YG141 digital fabric thickness meter of Changzhou Shuanggu Dunda Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. The instrument adopts the form of electric lift, pulley static balance device, automatic timing and electronic dial indicator to display readings. The instrument is reasonable in structure, reliable in performance, easy to operate and can be used in general laboratory environment conditions. The samples are several pieces of woven and knitted fabrics.
4. Experimental method and steps 1. Experimental steps:
(1) Clean the exposed parts of the instrument, especially the reference plate, presser foot, measuring rod, etc., without any dust and fibers.
(2) According to the requirements of the fabric to be tested, select the area of the presser foot, the pressing time and the pressing weight, and replace the selected pressing foot and pressing weight (selected according to the GB/T3820-1999 standard).
(3) According to the test needs, select "continuous" or "single" and "10s" or "30s" button position, turn on the power, press the start button to make the instrument work.
⑷ Zero adjustment of the electronic dial indicator: turn on the power supply, turn on the power switch, and the power indicator light is on at this time. According to the requirements of the fabric to be tested, select the area of the presser foot and the weight, and put the button in the "single" position, and press the start button to make the instrument work. When the presser foot is in contact with the reference plate, the reading indicator light is on, and then press the reset button to reset the electronic dial indicator to zero.
⑸ When the presser foot is raised, place the fabric or sample under test on the reference plate without tension.
⑹ "Single" test: in the experiment, when the presser foot presses the fabric to be tested for 10s, the reading indicator light will automatically light up, and the thickness value displayed on the electronic dial indicator should be read as soon as possible while the reading indicator light is on, and do a good job. Record, the reading indicator light is off, and the displayed value of the electronic dial indicator is invalid.
⑺ "Continuous" test: that is, after the reading indicator light goes out, the presser foot will automatically rise, and the work cycle will automatically go up and down. Using the gap time between the rise and fall of the presser foot, the fabric to be tested can be moved to a new measurement position, and its thickness value can be recorded one by one. (The reading indicator light is on, the recorded value is valid, otherwise the value is invalid.)
⑻ After the test work is completed, return the presser foot to the initial position (ie, fit with the reference board), turn off the power, remove the weight, and cover the instrument with a cover cloth to prevent dust from entering.

Precautions: (1) When replacing the presser foot or when the instrument is not used for a long time, please place a protective rubber pad between the presser foot and the reference plate to protect the measurement surface from damage. (2) Turn off the power switch after each experiment. And unplug the power plug of the instrument from the power outlet. (3) Clean and maintain the instrument well, ensure the flexibility of the transmission, and add a small amount of clock oil regularly. ⑷ Do the calibration of the instrument regularly as needed to ensure the accuracy of the measurement value of the instrument. ⑸ Remove the battery when the instrument is not used for a long time to avoid liquid leakage.
